This project originated from World War one trench maps from the small town of Lens, france. Information was excavated and translated in layered 2d and 3d forms. Nodes show the interaction of performance, observation, and holding within the space and ground. This project explored performance observation, and holding. Taking inspiration from my background in dance, I explored the program investigating the performance like qualities of war. Like a partnered dance there is an intense tension between two sides. They must anticipate each others next moves and react to every encounter, embrace, and collision. Time, practice, and planning is held within the history of the place and event, supporting the performing act while the world watches, catching carefully curated glimpses of reality.
